Fall has arrived and sure enough the leaves have changed. It has always been a favourite time of year for me. The air is cooler, crisper and cleaner. The colours of the leaves always amazes me. They were hiding under all that green all along. So cool.
I took this close up of a Red Maple’s leaf. To me it looks like a satellite view of streets and main roads. It would sure be a tough job naming the streets though. Imagine being a Courier trying to find your house in the middle of all that? That being said, I have to say, the structure of a leaf amazes me.
Was taking a break from working in the back yard and spotted this cloud. It was so simple yet so complex. Had to take a quick shot.
B&W really pulled out the magic of this image.
Got out with my buds, Joe, Ron and Greg, last Friday. Known them since High School. Had a blast in Kingston. I love these guys. And I love these two shots. The 1st one kills me because of the girl in the back photo bombing. The second one looks like an album cover. I asked people on Facebook to name the band. The best name I saw was, get this, instead of “One Direction” it was “Which Direction”. I was thinking maybe “Where the Hell did we Park?”
A buddy at work asked me to take a few shots of his dog a while back. He even let me borrow his Nikon D700. Sweet rig. Athena was a joy and a challenge to shoot. Full of energy, power and grace. This sort of got me thinking I would get into pet photography too. Maybe, we’ll see.
I pass by this little creek every day when I drive to work. Rain or shine I always turn and look to see what magic mother nature might be throwing at me. This day I stopped and took 5 shots. All at different exposure settings separated by 1.5 f stops. Got home after work and processed the image in HDR Efex Pro 2 and here ya go.
I really like architectural scenes that go just a little bit further. Something to make the photo jump out and yell “Hey, look at me!!!”
So I tried to play around with this shot a bit. Shot with my Fuji X10.
I processed it in HDR Efex Pro2, a little bit of Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 This is what I ended up with…
I updated my Portfolio Site with some new stuff. Check out my Latest Inspirations…

This is actually 3 photos. I shot the scene with the camera vertically and then stitched the 3 shots together in Photoshop CC. A little cropping and a tweak here and there for contrast and sharpening and voila.
Got home from work the other morning and there was fog everywhere. Just grabbed the camera and started looking around yard for interesting things. Thistles are always cool to shoot. Both beautiful and dangerous. The back lighting was awesome with the sun coming through the fog. I converted the 1st shot in Silver Efex Pro 2 and the second in HDR Efex Pro 2. I think I like the B&W a touch better.
It was an amazing morning with the fog and the sun coming through making everything in the yard that much more amazing.
